The Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) is a regional district in the province of British Columbia, Canada. On February 22nd, 1966, the Regional District of Central Kootenay was incorporated. The RDKB area is Trail and area west, between Okanagan and the Lower Arrow Lakes.

Origin Notes and History [Kootenay Name]:
"Named after the Kootenay (Kootenai, Kootanae, Coutonai, Kutenai) Indians. This name is probably derived from the Blackfoot Indian pronunciation of these Indians' name for themselves - Ktunaxa. The meaning of the word in not known - the often quoted "water people" is based on a false etymology."
